Hotels in Cornelius
Cornelius, although it is a waterfront City on Lake Norman there are no hotels that abutt the Lake. Most hotels are located with easy access to the I-77 for convenience to Charlotte NC. With that in mind there are several chain hotels in the area and my favorite place to check out the reviews is on Booking.com or similar before I would make a choice. Hampton Inn and Comfort Inn in Cornelius have the best most recent reviews. They are all quite well situated in Cornelius, but you would need a car to go to great restaurants in the area. The other option would be to choose a private vacation rental and there are many to choose from with superb lake views and self catering options. Jetton Park
Jetton Park in Cornelius is the most wonderful 104 acre public park area meandering along the banks of Lake Norman. Jetton Park has 1.5mile walking/rollerblading trail and 1.3 miles of biking trails. The area has a small beach area, (sorry no swimming allowed) which is a pity, but it is definitely a lovely place to take some time out to enjoy the beach and take in the lovely lake views.
Picnics and BBQ’s
There are a few deck areas and picnic tables set out along the walking route and with that in mind you can pack your favorite foods and plan a cookout or picnic overlooking the lake or the tree’s. Many are quite private and off the beaten track, and with the lovely weather you can enjoy the outdoors with family and friends.
Kiddies Playgrounds
There is a fantastic kiddies playground set amongst the trees and with a few picnic tables adjacent and within the playground area. With well maintained climbing equipment and restrooms right there, your little ones will enjoy the outdoors.
Event Venue
There is an indoor/outdoor event venue for your function or event. This can be booked with Charlotte Mecklenburg County. If you are considering a beach wedding, it would be an awesome opportunity to create a memorable occasion.
Tennis Courts
If you enjoy tennis, then you will love Jetton Park Tennis Courts. There are 8 courts in all and a fantastic place amongst the trees to expend your energy.

Coffee Shops
Of course there is a Starbucks in Cornelius and it has a very nice outdoor area with umbrellas for shade. With outdoor comfortable chairs and tables, it a great place for a casual meeting or a business one.
Waterbean is a much bigger coffee shop and has sofas for enjoying a quiet time or tables and ample plugs for laptops if you need to do some work or catch up on emails and reading. There coffee mugs are huge and it has a lovely vibe, great staff and ample parking.
Waterfront Restaurants
There are two waterfront restaurants in Cornelius.
The Formally well known and loved Rusty Rudder has closed its doors and a new waterfront restaurant is being introduced to this location. Watch this space for news of its opening.
Port City Club is a relatively new restaurant on a small peninsula into Lake Norman. The restaurant is large and has several different seating options. There is a bar area with stool seating, an indoor section of restaurant, and an undercover almost deck area which can be completely closed or semi open. Then there is a wonderful beach casual area where you can meet friends and have a beverage or head inside for a wonderful fine dining experience.

Cornelius is on the microbreweries route and with D9 breweries, Ass Clown Brewing, Bayne Brewing are worth the visit.

Hire a stand up Paddle Board, a kayak or canoe and enjoy the lake, the view and the experience. One can rent – hire a boat or pontoon for a day on the lake and enjoy some time out to fish or swim. Whatever the water-sport, Cornelius has the opportunity.
Cornelius is a hidden gem on Lake Norman and a fantastic place to live and play.
