With the real estate market changing course once again we need to get the property more than ready to enter the market in time for the Spring frenzy.
People will always need to move and your home will sell, maybe not in one day with 10 competing offers like we have seen through the COVID period. If we go back to the basics of real estate, buyers want to imagine what their furniture and lifestyle will look like in your home. There are a few things you can do over the winter to get your home market ready.
Start decluttering.
Get rid of any excess furniture, clothing, and other items that are not essential to the sale of your home. If you have items that you cannot store or donate, consider renting a storage unit.
Make simple improvements.
Invest in some minor repairs and updates that will make your home more appealing to potential buyers. Paint, replace carpets and flooring, and upgrade any outdated fixtures.
Boost your curb appeal.
Make sure your lawn and landscaping look their best. Plant some colorful flowers and trim trees and bushes to improve the landscape around your home.
Bring in natural light.
Open up your curtains and blinds to let the sun shine in. Clean your windows to let more light in and make your home look brighter and more inviting.
Stage your home.
Put out some new furniture and decorations that make your home look like a model home. This will help potential buyers envision themselves living in the home and make it more appealing to them.
Your REALTOR® partner may have a stager or be staging certified in which case that can be done just in time for the photographs. Your REALTOR® will also know what needs to be done in order to get the most money for your home. Get them in sooner rather than later.
Timing is everything when selling a home. Be sure you discuss the best option for you to maximize on the price.
Remember when your home goes onto the market, it is entering a competition. Every home of similar nature is competing for the few buyers that are looking and in order to win the competition and get your home sold, you need to get it show ready.
